The event space itself is gorgeous - a modern E-commerce brick and mortar retail and services shop aimed at helping aspiring and established Internet entrepreneurs establish a Shopify presence; set amongst the significant new development for entrepreneurial enterprises in Row DTLA, located where the old American Apparel factory was located during it's heyday.
Kirsty does Nike professional fitness training, as well as a whey-based protein product called Made Of. One of her tips for fitness buffs using manufactured proteins is that binders are important - she uses and recommends Xanthan Gum. It's a somewhat unconventional contemporary move in that she doesn't "eco-wash" her products, as her assistant puts it, in using a plant- and gluten-free base for her protein product.
The event is an insightful look in to the life of a currently successful CEO of an E-commerce business. She's based in New York, as a native New Zealander. Her morning routine is fast; she doesn't snooze the alarm. Rather, she hits the shower, first thing. Once she's out and about for her day at Nike corporate, she has a mid-morning coffee, does her cross-branding corporate consulting dailies, and she teaches classes.
Kirsty uses Instagram marketing for her branding and internet presence. Some of her tips are to take advantage of the moment where somebody needs something, don't take things for granted, check everything, and not to take things personally. As a New Yorker, her advice for this crowd is to not complain, and also: don't take the J-train. (As a Los Angeles native, I'm gonna have to look that bit of
localized folklore up.
After the event, I heard someone say "he's such a bum." I wouldn't have doubted it, as I was troubled, before I showed up, as to whether or not I smelled bad or not. Thankfully, I remembered that I have some coconut-scented body wash, which I lightly doused over myself, and I stopped by Macy's at The Bloc to put on some Spice Bomb cologne.
